Togher hosted Durrus in the league on Sunday last. The game started slowly enough and for 10 minutes or so very little happened with both sides testing each other out.A speculative Durrus shot that flew just wide of the post was the wake up call that Celtic needed.William o Donovan won a tackle in midfield and let the ball off early to Conor Collins who slipped it thru for Johnny Collins who in turn found the back of the Durrus net.

5 minutes later Togher doubled their lead with a brilliant solo goal from Noel Collins. Not to be out done by the younger bro,Conor Collins then struck for his 1st goal just before the short whistle. Conor then got another one on the hour mark with a volley from inside the box and 10 minutes later he completed his hatrick and then he was subbed for his troubles.

Durrus never dropped their heads and scored a consolation goal courtesy of a Johnny Collins og.The scoring didn’t finish there because straight from the restart Noel Collins found the Paul Deane running in full flight and he made no mistake from close range.

Togher Celtic News Togher travelled to Schull last Sunday morning to take on the local side Bunratty in the league. The last time that Celtic had beaten them was way back in 96/97 season in the ¼ final of the League cup. Right from the off Bunratty pushed forward right from the off and a fierce shot brought out the best in Darragh Farr. The next 10 minutes saw the home side pressing and only last ditch tackles from the Togher defence kept the score level.

However,Togher scored after 20 minutes when a long ball found Noel Collins in space and he made no mistake in dispatching the ball past the on rushing keeper.Bunratty deservedly got back on level terms on the half hour but 8 minutes later Pat Collins struck from outside the box and rattled the Bun net.

The 2nd half saw a more dogged approach from Celtic and they never gave the home side any space to play their passing game. With Farr In top form in goal and the defence keeping it tight the Home side were reduced to few chances.Just on the stroke of full time Noel Collins was felled in the area and Darragh Farr made the journey up from goal to lash home the resultant spot kick and make the points safe.

Togher played a Carling League cup game on Sunday August 15th against Ballydehob in Castletown.Celtic started well enough and after 10 minutes it looked like a penalty kick had been awarded, but the ref gave an indirect free kick inside the box, puzzling to say the least. Ballydehob took the lead after 25 minutes,a sloppy defensive error by Togher,a part of their game that must improve quickly.Togher had a fair share of the play but couldn’t make a breakthrough.Their opponents on the other hand were deadly accurste in front of goal scoring 4 out of the 6 oppertunities that they created.Celtic finally scored thru Killian Crowley to leave the final score 4.1 to the hob.

Last Sunday the league started and Togher were once again away to Ballydehob and once again conceded a bad goal on 8 minutes, and for the next 20 minutes missed 3 clear chances, before in the 29th minutes Paul Deane scored a fine equalizer.Togher kept the pressure up and just before half time Noel Collins finished off a move that involved some great passing. In the 2nd half Togher had more chances to finish the game off but failed to convert.By the final whistle Celtic had held on for a good 2.1 victory.

Togher Celtic—Brian o Mahony,Liam Curran,Kevin Hurley,Michael Deasy,Eric McSweeney,Johnny Collins,John Bonnie Collins,William o Donovan,Paul Deane,Noel Collins,Conor Collins.Subs—Sean o Brien,Conor Keane,Stevie Hurley.
